An Exhibition Of Cartoons By Ukrainian Artists In Japan,2022
An exhibition of cartoons by Ukrainian artists will open on September 13, 2022 in the Japanese city of Kyoto. The exhibition was presented by Professor Emeritus of the University of Kyoto Seika Yukio Shinohara. He wrote:
“This exhibition is a summary of the latest works sent in response to my request in August by six Ukrainian cartoonists who are currently fighting against Russia invasion.
The situation in Ukraine is reported in the media of each country and many information on the Internet, but of course it is not all, but only a small part. Even now, in Ukraine, many people are being sacrificed every day, living in the sound of gunfire and bombing.
The work of these Ukrainian cartoonists is filled with great anger towards Russia and Putin. Even now, their cartoons continue to be posted on SNS almost every day. I don`t know many works that continue to express anger so far. Instead of escaping this reality as someone else problem, I would like to stay close to their thoughts as a fellow artist.
I hope that you will accept their strong will and the message they continue to appeal to people of the world, not just as a manifestation of anger.”
Many thanks to Japanese friends for supporting Ukrainians.
