The Museum of Caricature in Krems, Austria, pays homage to the artist and Argentine cartoonist Guillermo Mordillo with a sample of more than one hundred works from the private collection of the artist."Humor is the tenderness of fear", said today Mordillo, 82, during the presentation of the sample. And this will also aim "to show their political and critical nature," said the commissioner, Gottfried Gusenbauer.Among the drawings that can be seen from Sunday until November 22 include the famous illustration of a colorful house in the middle of a gray landscape, whose owner has just been arrested. The work was used by Amnesty International, but also proved very popular in China, said the artist.
Despite his 82 years, Mordillo states that still draws ten hours a day. His characters are coming soon to the cinema with the film "Crazy Island", which could be released within two or three years. According to the cartoonist, "every big city should have a museum dedicated to humor" or at least "the humor should be accommodated in museums".
