The experienced journalist and cartoonist Omar Zevallos, who works in our daily portraying various characters of the political and cultural spheres, was among the winners of the XIX International Biennial of Graphic Humor in Cuba.
Zevallos, who has over 25 years experience in the art of stroke, won first prize in the Caricature category for his portrayal Personal Uruguayan president Jose Mujica, who will be remembered by rule from his humble home and legalize consumption marijuana in his country.
"It's a minimalist caricature few lines because I could express the physical traits of character. I did it because it caught my attention, even I have a much more elaborate pencil cartoon character thereof. But then I started working a much sleeker, more minimalist, with fewer features, trying to find the resemblance to the character, "says the author Mail.
"I got a cartoon that satisfied me. He had saved since late last year until he the opportunity to participate in this competition, "he added.

The cartoonist also won a "collateral" prize awarded the Union of Writers and Journalists of Cuba and the Museum of Humor of San Antonio de los Baños, for work "that has to do with war and peace".
"It's been a great satisfaction to win over all Personal Caricature First Prize, because that biennial is one of the oldest there," he said.
