"Zbigniew Ziomecki " Cartoonist From Poland Passed Away/ 2015

 

Zbigniew Ziomecki, born in 1930 in Warsaw, Graphic designer, illustrator,

cartoonist, graphic editor of many books.

He made his debut in 1951 in the satirical weekly "Mucha".

His work has been published in national magazines, among others:

"Express Wieczorny", "Gazeta Bankowa", "Karuzela", "Szpilki", "Perspektywy",

"Polityka", "Świat", "Życie Warszawy" and foreign, such as "Dikobraz" (Czechoslovakia),

"Eulenspiegel", "Pardon" (Germany), "Voice of Art" (USA).

He also collaborated with renowned publishers such as Iskry in Warsaw, Bomeier und Nikel in

Frankfurt / Main and the Cartoonists and Writers Syndicate in New York.

As a participant in national and international satirical competitions he won numerous

awards and honors, including award, the Grand Prix - Satyrykon, Legnica (1979, '94),

special award - the competition "Sztuka", Zielona Gora (1988).

He was a multiple winner of the "Złota Szpilka" / Golden Pin (1976, '80, '85, '89 - two).

For his merits in tha art field he was honoured in 2012 by the Silver Medal "Gloria Artis".

His drawings have been presented many times at exhibitions at the Museum of Caricature,

such as "Warsaw in caricature", in 1980., "A thin pen, a thick line.
