Finalists Of 61st.Edition International Cartoon Festival Knokke-Heist/Belgium,2022

The International Cartoon Festival Knokke-Heist will be in its 61st edition in 2022 and will take place from 9 July to 28 August 2022 in Cultuurcentrum Scharpoord. Every year, the Grote Prijs Knokke-Heist Gouden Hoed is organized as part of the International Cartoon Festival.

Oldest cartoon contest in the world

Knokke-Heist is hosting the international cartoonists for the 61st time, making the Gouden Hoed the oldest cartoon competition in the world. After all these years, the competition is still very popular, because more than 491 cartoonists from more than 95 countries took part in De Grote Prijs Knokke-Heist. A total of 2455 cartoons were submitted.

Chairman Chris Dusauchoit

The 10 nominees for the Grand Prix Knokke-Heist Gouden Hoed have been announced. A six-member jury of experts, led by Chris Dusauchoit, selected 10 cartoonists for a chance to win a cash prize of EUR 5000 and eternal cartoon fame. The chairman receives professional support from cartoonist Steven Degryse (Lectrr), Prudence Geerts (Planet Prudence), Kamal Kharmach (stand-up comedian), Bruno Wyndaele (presenter) and Toon Horsten (Standaard Uitgeverij).

“Like every year, it was quite an undertaking, but in the end we still found - in touching harmony - ten cartoons, three of which will actually win prizes. We can't say too much about it (wait until July 9), but you'll laugh!” said chairman Chris Dusauchoit.
