WINNERS OF THE 5TH INTERNATIONAL CARTOON CONTEST DENIZLI METROPOLITAN MUNICIPALITY/TURKEY2025
The International Cartoon Competition organized by Denizli Metropolitan Municipality for the fifth time this year has concluded. A total of 968 works from 45 countries participated in the competition, which attracted great interest from amateur and professional cartoonists, with the theme of ‘Water and Environment’.
Cartoonists gave an awareness message for water and the environment
The competition, which was held with the theme of “Water and the Environment”, drew attention to climate change, depletion of water resources and environmental problems. Aiming to create social awareness, the competition used the power of cartoon art to draw attention to environmental problems while bringing together the creative lines of artists of all ages.
Master names met in the jury
Works from many countries as well as Turkey participated. Gürbüz Doğan Ekşioğlu, Şevket Yalaz, Ali Şur, Savaş Ünlü, Abdülkadir Uslu, Altan Özeskici, Özgür Başkurt, Mehmet Selçuk and Arif Duru served in the selection committee, which included world-famous cartoonists. The works that are deemed worthy of an award as a result of the evaluations will be exhibited by Denizli Metropolitan Municipality and published in a digital album. The award ceremony of the competition will be held on May 2, 2025 at Denizli Metropolitan Municipality Turan Bahadır Exhibition Hall.
The winners have been announced
In the over 18 category, Luc Vernimmen (Belgium) was deemed worthy of first place, Musa Gümüş second and Osman Çolakoğlu third. Honorable mentions were given to Fakhredin Dostmohamad (Iran), Cemalettin Güzeloğlu and Engin Selçuk in the competition. The special award prepared in the name of Master Cartoonist Latif Demirci was given to Halit Kurtulmuş Aytoslu. In the under 18 category, M. Boran Şavluk and Zeynep Rüya Çetin were deemed worthy of an award with their works.
