The Finalists Of The 2nd LEA Comic Exhibition /Greece2025


Under the auspices of the Municipality of Athens the 17th edition of the LEA Festival (Literature in Athens) will take place.
The LEA Festival has the honor to announce the four finalists of the 2nd LEA Comic Painting Competition, whose exhibition will be inaugurated on June 11 at 18:00 at the Cervantes Institute in Athens (Skoufa 31). With the theme "Book as a Reflection between Cultures", the Exhibition focuses on reading as a cross-cultural bridge and forms part of the official activities of the LEA Festival 2025.


The finalists, chosen through dozens of submissions from different countries, are:

The winner of the competition will be announced on the same day at the official opening of the exhibition, which will be open until July 27 with free admission.
Awards and Recognition
👉First Prize: Trip to Mexico at the Guadalajara International Book Fair 2025 as part of the International Meeting of Animation and Comics (EICH) and the University Center for Arts, Architecture and Design (CUAAD) of the University of Guadalajara-Jalisco-Mexico, all expenses paid.
👉Second Prize: 500 euro, donated by the Cevedo Institute of the Art of Humor of the General Foundation of the University of Alcala, Spain.
👉Third and Fourth Prize: Honorable Mention.


The exhibition has been curated by Adriana (Nani) Mosquera and is organized by the Festival of Intercultural Development LEA, in cooperation with the International Meeting of Cartoons and Comics (EICH) and the University Center for Arts, Architecture and Design (CUADD) of the University of Guadalajara-Jalisco-Mexico, as well as the Kevedo Institute of Art Humor (IQH) of the University of Alcala de Enares, Spain (UAH). The exhibition will last from July 11 to 27.
More than 400 projects were submitted to the competition, of which 100 have been selected, were chosen by 45 participants representing Latin America, Spain, Greece and Portugal, as well as other countries such as China, Egypt, the United States, Iran, Russia, Ukraine, Serbia, Kurdistan, Uzbekistan, Morocco, Syria, Malaysia or Indonesia.


Athens will host the second exhibition emerging from this invitation, which will then continue to tour countries such as Mexico, Spain and Colombia. At the LEA Festival, the global Comiography meets on the theme "The Book as a Reflection Between Cultures".


The jury, consisting of Juan Garcia (Cevedo Institute of the Art of Humor), Jorge Gonzalez (University of Guadalajara), Adriana Martinez (LEA Festival), Adriana (Nani) Mosquera (Colombia-Spain), Dimitri Georgopalis (Greece), Melissa Ortith (Bucaramanga Book Fair) and Boligan (Cuba-Mexico), will announce the names of the four finalists. Next with the director of International Meeting of Animation and Comics (EICH) at Guadalajara, Ph.D. Eduardo Galindo will announce the winners of the first and second prizes of the International Comic Painting Competition at the LEA Festival.
Within the context of this exhibition, a tribute will take place to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the character of "Magola" by the Colombian-Spanish artist Adriana (Nani) Mosquera.

The festival will be held in Athens from June 10 to 22, on June 14, 19 and 20 in Thessaloniki, on June 14 in Lefkada and Patras and will present at the Chania Book Festival in Crete, from June 25 to 28. With more than 25 guests from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Spain, Mexico, Nicaragua, Peru, Portugal and Uruguay. About 30 guests from Greece will participate in this cultural event that, through words and letters, builds bridges between Latin America, Spain, Greece and Portugal.

The LEA Festival has been one of the most prominent literary events in Athens since 2008 and the only cultural event in Greece and Cyprus with the theme of Iberian American literature.
This cultural event is organized annually by the non-profit organization LEA-Intercultural Development Festival and the Cervantes Institute in Athens, with the participation of the Ambassadors of Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Spain, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Portugal, Uruguay and the United States. Venezuela and the Honorary Consulate General of Colombia in Athens with jurisdiction throughout the territory of the Greek Republic.

All of the above together will make it possible for the LEA Festival to offer once again in Greece and Cyprus ten days of interesting activities that will undoubtedly exceed the expectations of the public in Athens, Lefkada, Patras, Thessaloniki, Cyprus and Chania.
